Founded in 2016 by Derrick Green on a downtown
Anchorage sidewalk, Waffles and Whatnot is a community focused social
enterprise that serves healthier southern style cuisine mixed with international
flare.
We are growing with national franchise aspirations before going
public in 10 years, if not sooner. We've been featured by Facebook (now Meta),
Amazon's Black Accelerator Program, Entrepreneur Magazine, the National
Black Directory, Diners Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network as well as Guy's
Grocery Games. We've twice been voted Best Food Truck in Alaska, Best Breakfast
in Alaska, and was Alaska's highest rated food establishment.
Our menu is
relatively simple, absolutely delicious, and proven. We pride ourselves on
accommodating nearly all food allergies and restrictions. At Waffles and
Whatnot, we allow families to enjoy eating out together again by offering no
gimmicks, just greatness.

If food is your love language, you're in the right place. Now you can take the WAWN (pronounced "Juan") experience home with you to share with friends & family. Or, send a gift or care package to spread the love far and wide.
Derrick Green is the creator of Waffles And Whatnot. Our very first mix was cooked up in his home kitchen for his own family. Derrick's first wife, Shirili, battled cancer for 6 years, and he served as her dedicated caregiver through endless courses of chemotherapy. She had difficulty eating through the nausea and needed to consume so many supplements to get basic nourishment that Derrick determined to find a better way. Helping his wife gain strength and nutrient-dense calories is what inspired his first WAWN recipe—a nourishing waffle mix that is both delicious and packed with nutrition so she could get everything she needed in just a few bites.
